Personal story of the day

I work in my university’s library and a man called asking if I could look up a book for him: “How To Form Your Own Corporation Without a Lawyer for Under $50.” I told him we had it, and he said “So I can just come there and use it, right?” and I said “Well, yeah, if you’re a student here.” He wasn’t. He said he found our library on a list of “local book-dealers” and since he couldn’t check out the book from us, he asked if he could buy it. “No,” I said. “This is a library.” Then he asked if I had the publisher’s phone number so that he could call and buy a copy from them. I told him we didn’t have that information, because really, why would he expect us to? Why can’t he look it up himself online? Why can’t he search for the book on Amazon?

This book was published in 1973 anyway.

So I think I just talked to a time traveler.
